hello!

so i went out dancing with a few buddies at electrowerkz (or however you spell it) near Angel tube in london on saturday, and had a blast.

Before I get into details, and because you may skip reading at any stage, let me just say
that there will most likely be another party there in 2 weeks ( i guess the 28th )...

Anyway, I was a bit dubious because i usually
think of electrowerkz as an IDM venue, and
indeed there was less of a hippy atomosphere and more of a dirty industrial feel. Which suited the music.

It started very minimal-progressive, graduated through a more complex driving set by transient DJ Pied Piper Paul (the 2-4 primetime slot). This was full-on, sort of, but there were no cheesy melodies in sight. The theme continued into the
last set winding down into some more minimal material. The music was entirely of an excellent, filthy, quality, though I didnt ID a single tune all evening, and neither did any of my mates (and, yes, we do listen to a little bit of psy trance now and again at home:) This was a _plus_, I reckon.

To be honest the place was deserted at the beginning, and never really got full (even though it was ground floor only). But the people there were friendly. I got chatting to the organiser and he reckoned everyone was at some free party (anyone confirm this?). Anyway, I would rather go to a less packed party than
one where the sweat flows off you like a waterfall....

Well all in all I had a very enjoyable evening and it totally satisfied my need for some
big basslines and hard kicks. Oh yeah, sound system was pretty good. Highlight was definitely the loony transient dude's set and it was fun dancing alongside him later in the party...

If I wasnt going to VoOV in 2 weeks (HOORAH!!!!) Id most probably go back. The next one will use both floors, I am told.

ok that's enough. Anyone go to Hackney for Hyperspace? I was worried cos even in the psy trance room it looked like not all the DJs were gonna manage to play a psy set....

I think next weekend there are maybe 2 totally psy trance free parties (hoorah for the summer)... but it's not for me to advertise them (I know no details...)

cheers!

-jon

I think the Oxford party is the "Where the Wild things Are", they did a very successful event in early June. Was fantasic music. Highly reccomended!

The party was held in an a deep forest, which reminded me Infected's "classical mushroom" design by Dreamer!.

I'll try to post full details of this event soon...

'stay tooned'.

Anyone in London what to give me lift?
