...y'know, like writers block, but for musicians.

I've had this for months now...and can't shift it. I have really bad days when I can't even be happy with a four on the floor beat that I've made, others I can make a nice beat, a great lead, a punchy bassline, and then I lose it, have nowhere to go from there, and end up scrapping the track, and starting again.

You ever suffered with this? Any tips?

very common problem

my favorite solution is to smoke a bunch of weed and have someone else collaborating with me who can actually play my MIDI keyboard. That way I'm forced to work quickly and not spend so much time focused on the tiny tiny details

another thing that really has helped is not giving in to the desire to scrap a track..just finish it. I have max 2-3 projects going at once and if I get bored with one I switch to the other. usually have a psytrance track, a psy-dub track and a chillout/patch-making/improv track
