Well u play a c minor, then u play an F# major and back again for example. Sounds really tense. |

I see...
If i use chords like this on a Cminor scale for example... can i add the f# on the melody lines ? I know there are no rules, but since it is not in the original cminor scale... sometimes i wonder if i should use it or use natural F instead...
thanks for your time n patience |

If you add it on a melody line, it should be in a weird sounding section.
It will sound VERY dissonant, especially if u play it while playing an F or G on another layer, E and G# also but less so.
If you look at holst - planets - mars, the melody goes something like C CCCC C C C GGG F# F#F#F#F F#F#F# C#C#C#. And it works. But he doesnt really have any other conflicting harmonies playing, so it sounds like he is operating in different keys
I heard something similar used by manifold - tomahawk (5:30) |

Aciduss - I mean if you want a consonant/coherent feel to your music dont play notes which are 1 or 2 semitones apart, coz they grate on each other

| Hey bukboy - this doesn't make sense if you are on the root note and go 2 semitones down, which is the 7th (in natural minor). The root and the 7th do not grate on each other. Or do you mean at the same time ? Thanks in advance for your explanation
p.s. @Wireconnex I've tried some of the blues scale in the bass for my new tune and it just sounds like pure funk man - go for it it reckon (if it sounds good)

Interessting stuff.
Was it a reliable source?
I havent tryed it or even know the amount of db reduction they use but in theory would'nt that make it sound unreal and to digital?
