As I said....MILKING THE COW!!!!

Now seriously does the world really need such a school? IMO no! It's not even a proper education. Just a school where High profiled Fullon artists can charge high fees for star struck kiddos who want to be next to their gods.

These artists used to be part of a scene that mattered and had a purpose. Now they only have one purpose. To maintain godlike status and milk the scene for as much money as possible.

No respect!!          www.beatagency.dk

I think you're being a little harsh there Kris. Merv Pepler/Eat Static is still one of the hardest-working, most live, most versatile and (from the last set of his I saw this summer) plain, good old-fashioned BEST psytrance artists I'm aware of. He's also very down-to-earth as a person. I'm sure there are a range of motivations for everyone involved in that list of teachers, but from first-hand experience I do know that there are some extreme talents there, at least. Whether they can actually teach or not, to make them worth being there, is not something any of us can say, I think, and it will be interesting to hear any reports from students who have already taken the course (does anyone speak Japanese?). But unless you're willing to share relevant details of the conversations you've had with all concerned to form your sweeping generalisation of an opinion, I think it's a bit off for you to try and tell us what's going on in their heads. I'll tell you one thing though - it's only the jealous part of me that agrees with you.

I'd teach there as a guest if they wanted me to.

That's fine, as far as your "IMO" goes. But you are not talking about yourself only. Why not let "the world" decide what "the world" needs or not? What to somebody seems like milking the cow, to somebody else looks like diversification of income streams. And to somebody it may even look like pros teaching noobs (surprise!). Yep, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

What is this intolerance to anything involving money?

And it's not even about money in general, it's about money somebody else is making. All this whining about Astrix and Shpongle charging exorbitant fees, while "poor me" has to play for some symbolic figure or for free. I bet you people whining like that would not rally against "capitalism in The Scene" if they were paid as much as "big names". Sounds kinda hypocritical and childishly jealous to me.

[/rant]

Did anybody sit with those people and assess the quality of their classes? What if they are worth every penny they charge? Wouldn’t some people look silly then after their baseless bitter hippie whining…

So what is the end result of this so-called school?

Does it make any of the "students" better artist? Do they find their own unique sound? Is this school going to change anything for them regarding creating better music, getting gigs or understand the music industry better?

My point and critique is that I seriously doubt this is anything but "a nice holiday in Ibiza sitting in the studio with the students "god"

I am sorry to say I do not see this as an education in any way. It takes a bit more than a few weeks in Ibiza.

I too educate in music. I educate children. so I got a little experience.

But of course to each and his own. Some of you think this is amazing. I dont.

@ Colin

Its a low blow to draw the "jealousy" card whenever someone criticize something you think is all dandy amazing

Furthermore their website is under construction and their Facebook offer no (whatsoever) info about what each lesson is all about. Such as schedule, what the students will get to study with the teachers etc. Not very professional when taking into account the high fees they charge. Just an observation and personal opinion.          www.beatagency.dk
