Very intersting, i have thought about it myself a few times when being in the "key editor". Many melodies often form patterns, they often form textures and symbol like forms.
There is surely something interesting behind the music. And i am not talking about the producer but what the producer is channeling or describing.
I dont think, i know that similiar patterns are in psytrance since i myself many times have seen them when producing. What they are however i cant explain.
Would be nice to read more about this.

if you look in the comments, it seems like most people think that the article is pseudopopmath that that doesn't stand up to true logic.

interesting... but don't you think that if you map stats where the data pool is big enough, while still in the limitation of say pitch or rhythm, ie. frequency, it has to conform to some kind of power curve?
Would have liked to see the full predictability chart based on composers.
Check this page too... http://tones.wolfram.com/
It's a combination of Mathematica and a midi generator with variables allowing you to unique compositions based on genre and pitch specific algorithms.

I bought that book two, I understand it but can't put anything on it to use XD
"The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures." |
