I read here anywhere:
"Take acid and your sound will get psy"
I dont agree with that. My experience is that it is:
If you take drugs and make music it sounds good and psychedelic, then when you came down it isn't so good anymore, sounds worse.
But if you make music without taking anything, and it sounds good and psych. it will be great, really psychedelic on drugs.
And be always carefull with that stuff. 
What do you think about that? |

i think better just listen 2 music while on drugs and stay sober if you wanna make a descent track |

well the thing is, in my point of view..
if you want to make music.. dont take them..
if you to make sound.. take them 
it's like, if you want to make movies with sound.. you have to see what your doing.. and well it's true that you can see it without drugs.. but maybe you can see them more clearly if you use them..
anyway my sugestion is, dont take drugs to make music or sound.. take drugs to open your mind...
after a while.. and a few trips.. you realize that your mind has changed alot.. and that you heard the sound and see the movies without being stoned..
einstein once said something like, when your mind learns something new it never gets back..
so what you learn on a trip will always be there, for the rest of your life...
i'm very glad i tried psychedelic drugs and i would recomend to everyone to try them...
anyway i hope all i said made sense to you.. if not PM me.. i can surely help you in this subject hehehe 
the drugs i say here are LSD, Psilocybin, MDMA, THC.

Peoples are different, some can be full on 3 drops of acid and still be able to play with the sequencer and try to get the mouse on the controller velocity from 99 to 100 (if you know this time wasting issue)
and some peoples, in fact most of the peoples cannot-
anyway when you're on acid then you can drop something on the floor play the 2 hands on the keyboard without any harmony and make some other noises from wherever and it all will sound very good like a nice track- but the point is that only you in most of the times can understand the connection of the sounds and find it intresting and of course other peoples who already did enough acid- but for most of the peoples it will sound just weird and disconnected.
Anyway no rules - what i do can tell you is that if you did acid in your life then your musical ideas are mostly better then peoples who didn't but for making music you don't have to be on it.
(i'm sorry i talked only about acid- but for me that's what i call drugs)

doesnt everything get psy(chedelic) when you take acid? hehe
well anyway i dont think there are many producers that takes acid when they make music, drugs wont make you better, they will only make you think in another way and some will make you relax and focus on other stuff...
though some russian stuff sounds like it was produced on acid.. totaly freaked! =P
but then again its all up to the mind of the creator! we dont need drugs to make wierd sick twisted music...but a hit from the bong can make wonders!

well imo dont take any hardcore drugs e.g. acid i can garantee you that you will not be able phisically to operate the machines, in fact you will probably end up deleting all your presets and your saved tracks lol
know if are talking about pot, i would advise you not to make a big session but just a tiny little bit just to that amount that you are a bit spaced out but still able to concentrate is fine
*note: im not advising ANYONE to take any drugs while making music or whenever

well NeutroN, seems like you are not a drug lover
and that's fine.
but just don't guarantee anyone here whether he'll be able to physically operate the machines or not-
humans can do everything, well it's not easy for everyone as prototype said and some can do better in some drugs,
regarding pot-  it's not even a issue- smoking pot in the studio is one of the best calming and concentrating thing for making music- at least for me.
Take drugs or not- it's nothing to do with music making- it's depends on your character- some loves it and some don't.

i think its not about to make good sounds or good tune
its just on acid i cant hear crap music (almoust all mainstream sux-trance that is arround since 2000)
so if i make some loop that sound sux i cant work on it more than 2 mins
anyway its all in u'r heads
i find myself fully operating on sequenser,instruments,cdj's on cid
most of my tracks i begon when on cid
ya its sound mess next morning
but when all corrected its sounds perfect
i know alot of 'artists' that even dont want to hear the word 'drugs'..........
well psyworld is not for them imo

Well, I tend to smoke some spliffs when making music, but nothing more than that (I don't take drugs very often anyway, and I never take chemical drugs ...)
I don't reckon many ppl write music on acid, but definetelly lots of ppl do music on pills and coke, I know some ppl who do that.
I don't even think that drinking and making music go togheter, I've tried it and definetelly wasn't a productive experience...
I remember about 3 yrs ago, I tried to make a tune while on mushrooms, and it was a really stupid experience, I just put a reverb on the kick and stayed there all night with a friend listening to how wonderfull it sounded. |
