A question for the geeks here. I've recently purchased a new HD that i will be using exclusively for Audio. I've just installed a clean WinXP OS on it and now i'd like to know how can i be able to chose between the 2 WinXP's (the Audio one and the Internet/games one) in the start of the boot sequence.

Interesting, can you write a little bit more? I'm after optimization and everything, i don't want it to accidentally run the installation again.
Thanx.

You have to edit the boot.ini to change your boot preferences. It's actually not too difficult.
1) Click on 'Start', the 'Run' and type 'boot.ini' and click OK
2) Boot.ini comes up in notepad to edit. Make your changes & save the file, then reboot to see the effects. There are quite a few different things you can do, but most likely you just need to copy & paste under the operating systems section, and make 1 or two changes. It's kind of self explainatory once you look at it. If I remember correctly (not in front of my machine), this is how it goes:
[boot loader]
timeout=75
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Win XP MultiTask" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
multi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Win XP Music" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

it's really simple
What Dharma Lab sais is the way to go, if you messed up your boot ini, or installed a second harddrive with a former windows installation and want windows to know it, or want to change the names presented in the bootmenu.
As I said, you just start from the CD again and install the whole windows again (but on a different partition or Harddisk of course)
The two windows will be completely independet from each other. You can totally mess up one of them, the other wont care.
Of course both windows installations will "see" all the harddrives and partitions.
In my case this looked like this:
C:/WindowsXPsound
D:/WindowsXPwork
E:/Datadisk
F:/CDrom
Wheras C and D in my case were just two partitions of the same harddisk (you can make them when you first install windows)
First I installed windows on the firstpartition, and while doing that defined two partitions on the first harddisk.
After I installed the whole windows I inserted the CD again, went again through the whole installation but this time chose D: as a target for windows.
Next time you start windows will present a boot menu right after the bios start up. There you can choose.
ok?
