I'm searching for a vst plugin that is able to divide sound in several frequency bands and adjust stereo-imaging of them separately. (Yes I know this can be done another way =))

Can't Ozone do that?

Sounds like a phase train wreck!
Ozone can do this, but I don't use it.. it sounds weird to me.
Use panning for a decent stereo image, and expand everything if necessary.
If tracks are mono and centred they won't get expanded (correct me if I'm wrong) so you are really just expanding everything above the kick and bass. |

yes it can but:
1. very cpu-hungry to use it at individual channels
2. i'm not really satisfied with ozone's imaging..

I dont like ozone at all, and spectron has a huge amount of latency...as far as I remember it was something like 1/32th at 145.
I kinda liked spectron for spectral panning & morphing, but it defenately introduces some phase issues.
I know its not multiband, but I quite like the stereo knob on the TRackS comp lately...

I don't like oZone either.
Spectron, on the other hand rocks. You can reduce the amount of latency by reducing the bands, but the very way it works introduces some latency - its inevitable, just like Spektral Delay. Also as the number of bands is freely configurable, it is tricky to assign PDC values, as you can only do this under the VST standard when you load a plugin. There is a way but it took me a long time to figure it out.
I mainly use it offline for that reason, but I do use it all the damn time.
I don't know about the phase issues. All I can say is I've never run into any problems, but I can't say I've been scientific in my analysis, probably more just lucky.
For really mad sounds, this is without doubt my plugin of the year last year .

the cool thing with spectron is like I said, that it has almost exactly 1/32th latency...so simply put your notes 1/32th earlier and you fucked the latency issue

correct me if i am wrong, but you might want to give SPECTRAL AUTOPAN from Anarchy Effects a go. Assigns different pan positions to the different component pitches in the input signal.
The effect pitch has on pan position is controlled by control points, which can change in pan position and pitch according to LFOs. This adds stereo depth and motion to sounds. Maybe a little different than what you ask, but worth a try, maybe it will give new ideas only $29 for 5 creative plug-ins

yeah I've used that one too, and its excellent at what it does, and dirt cheap.
I have had stability issues with it, which is very annoying as it is an otherwise excellent plugin which I fully recommend.
Clearly autopan of different freqs in different ways is a truely killer effect!
