I use a Focusrite Compouder, unless I want to side chain. It has a bass expand option which kind of acts like a filter allowing some of the bottom end to get by the compressor. Me likes it a lot

Bless your little cotton socks.....I feel the love.

Well I am curious. Everything is relative? wouldn't you agree?

And well a Compouder is hardly bragging now is it? Its a budget product.

But at the end of the day if your making an A/B comparison on 2 products, we need to know what your monitoring chain is and what kinda material you used the equipment with. Other wise its not really helping anyone is it?

Why would you try to have an intelligent conversation here? You arrogant asshole.           You believe in the users?

Well that was sarcasm..I think you should just be a little less defensive. I don't understand why you have a problem with d2, he's just trying to help.           You believe in the users?

Well if you didn't jump in there so quick you might learn a basic fundamental of engineering/production.

You did this yesterday as well and then apologized. ...and all did was try and help you understand something......I spent quite a bit of time doing it as well.

So you can imagine I am a little shocked that you would do it again so quickly.......and Kane I really don't understand why you are jumping in.

If you telling me the GranComp does the same as a Compouder means nothing to me. I need an anchor point. A reference, something to give me a bearing on things. This is the most fundamental part of engineering and mixing to me. The number one mistake in my view. When ever I mix a track I calibrate the playback level to a known standard. I will listen to reference tracks. This gives me an anchor.....and more importantly one I can return to......Especially important on long sessions. With out an anchor you can get lost and mess up a whole mix. Everything is relative.

Now someone I don't know. Don't know what their experience level is. Don't know what they use. When they tell me something like you did, I need to quantify it. Otherwise it means nothing to me.....If someone claims I can save money by selling my Compouder and downloading something that will do the same then obviously I am interesting. But I want to know what equipment they came to that conclusion with. That way I can relate it possibly with my experiences and actually give value to your statement for my own sake.

So that makes me an asshole hey?

I am quite surprised at how sensitive people are here!!! I frequent other forums and quite frankly things are a little less mature here.

But I don't really want to get sucked into that. That's not what I am here for. And i don't want to tar everyone with the same brush either as I have met a few nice people already.

Kane I have already Pm'ed you. Maybe we can discuss things there, rather that piss on our own doorsteps.

Well I sold my compounder also as i bought UAD 1e Extreme pack - A combination of several plugins do the job much better than my Compounder did.

System (for D2 with whome i agree)

RME FF 800
adam A7`s
Cubase 4

I wouldnt use Multiband Compression on basslines personnally, i prefer to leave by basslines as uncompressed as i can, i try to get the best sound i can by using just the synth, but if i must i will use 1176 or something similar from my UAD. I never boost bass frequencies etc, just tighten it up.

I have had a look at the plug-in and it doesn't do exactly what the Compouder does.

I track vocals. drums, guitar, bass etc. A lot of the plug ins haven't stood up to it for me.

I am interested in them though as keeping it in the box will avoid a stage of DAC and ADC.
