haven't heard any djing success stories for mp3 players at all
but if it's not for djing then try Nomad JukeBox- it's a nice one

There's the rather famous Final Scratch which has been used by the likes of Richie Hawtin (even though, he DOES work for the company that makes it ), which is an mp3/dj thing.

my only advice is do not choose i-pod...
i've been advised by loads of ppl not to buy the i-pod, its a great design, and thats what you're paying for...design, not quality...
for the same price i think u can get a much better one, better quality and more resistent
