Hello friends,

I made a new track, mastered it and converted it to mp3 (192 Kbps stereo, 44.1 Khz, cool edit). When I play it with Windows Media Player and other audioplayers it works fine - BUT:

When I play the mp3 with Winamp it distorts!!! The .wav doesn't tho.

I already tried higher quality (up to 320 Kbps) but that didn't help. I normalized the original .wav file to -o.4 dB to avoid clipping. Why does it distort?

Do you know a solution? It would be great if someone could help me!

Thanx,
martyn

Seems like there's an issue with your winamp. Check the various output settings, there should be something there. Also the problem could be if you're using the winamp EQ.           ________________________

that problem it's probably...because i have your wav file in a diferente sample rate 48khz or higher...

i've experience the same problem...converting the wav in a higher bit rate in Sound forge to 44.100 and to mp3...

i found that if i export it in the 44.100 samplerate...or after o master it...try to resample first to 44.100 and and only after save it to mp3.

Thank you guys! The main difference was the eq in winamp. So simple It was hidden so I didn't recognize it was on :-/ . A small bass-boost caused the distortion.

But I already made a new master-version with less L2 on it. I don't want my tracks to sound crappy only because a listener has a bit of eq in his player. Now it sounds fine. If you want to listen:
