In the past 4 or so years i have been gradually moving furthur away from trance music. First of all, progressive stuff started to like me, and then all the rest fell after that... the breaks, down beat, electro whatever. all the time i loved other music but trance music always did something that now other music does. I feel that alot of trance music these days has no atmosphere, and to me, atmosphere is nearly everything. I wonder about other people like me who still are in "the trance scene", go to the festivals blah blah, but have lost that real touch with it. I have a few theories on why i moved on from it, and these are them.
1: The music is not the same as it was
2: I am not the same as i was
3: The music is shitty now?

The reason i wonder about this is that the truth is that i am still addicted to going to these parties even when they are in clubs and i hate clubs. It is like some kinda magnetic pull. my theory on this is
1: I go becuase sub-conciously i need to be around lots of people
2: I dont like the feeling of missing out (in case something good happens which it usually doesnt)

Anyway bla bla i am starting to go on a bit, and i realise that maybe there is no point to any of this but i will post it any way.

Haha another funny thing is that i hardly ever listen to psychedelic stuff yet i am looking at isra-trance every week?? My flat mate cant figure me out, isra trance seems to have a magnetic pull too.

"how many psytrance DJs does it take to change a lightbulb?
one to change it, four more to stand around shaking their heads saying how the old one was better"

No, seriously. I perfectly understand you. I've had the same thing happen to me, both with psy and with other genres. But I always come back to psy
I won't say the music was better before and shitty now, but it's different. It has evolved. But whether it's for better or worse, that's up to the listener to decide, it's just a subjective opinion.           ________________________

I tend to listen to a whole lotta Old Skool stuff, but I'm nowhere as disillusioned as you. Maybe coz i have been in the scene for only about 5-6 years.

At the same time there are some newer artist who make me feel like everythings not lost..
Very psychedelic, and also importantly i find some 'soul' 'thought' behind their works..
