so a move is in the works. looking for somewhere to go that has a good job market for design jobs and random crappy cubicle jobs and a nice psytrance scene. doesn't have to be a huge scene. I just want good people. close to a semi-large city with lots to do would be nice.
I live in the middle of no where and I'm at least an hour from anyone I know and it is killing me. the internet is not enough! where is good to live? |

The midwest is clearly a winner(Minneapolis in particular.) We're only going to the west coast because we've already done everything there is to do in the midwest...
Moving out of the south is a really good idea if you ever want to make some real money. Start investigating the average incomes for the jobs you would be getting and you'll see the south east is an epic fail(ATL is ok, but it's so HOT AND HUMID)
We looked pretty hard and what we came up with for parties + jobs was Texas(Austin), Colorado(Boulder or Denver), Minneapolis, Chicago, and almost all of Cali, with northern Cali seeming the best. Cali seems to be the winner, but the higher cost of living will balance out the higher wages, so it might be economically more like the southeast, but less of a shithole as far as weather and inbreeding...

we're looking at chicago, philly, maybe atlanta, and I'd LOVE cali or oregon. but the west is really far from our folks. |

Denver? There is a decent job market and the economy is doing a little bit better here because of the medical marijuana boom.. The psytrance scene is smaller but there are shows that do happen and a few different crews doing various things.

come to Detroit and help build a psy-scene?? we could use all the help we can get. Housing here is hella cheap. and urban agriculture is growing. |

looks like we are mostly looking at Portland, OR and focusing on next summer for the goal. a cross country move will take a lot of resources though so it will take a lot of work and planning! |

Great choice!
I think next summer in Portland is going to be epic.

the jobs part is what we are worried about. trying to interview and get jobs before moving out there will be hard! flights to pdx from nc are crazy expensive... |

I heard portland is just a step up from Asheville as far as jobs go(as in, expect low pay or no job.) However, if you've been living in NC, it might seem like a step up. Definitely get something before going there or do what we aredoing and head out with money in the bank and your shit in storage...
