Hi all.
I've installed my motu 828mkII (FW) on my PC running XP sp2.

It works great with ASIO hosts (Cubase and FL8) but windows would not recognize it as audio device for normal use (iTunes, Media Player etc.) - I can choose the motu in the Sounds menu from the control panel but it keeps insisting there's no audio device connected after I press the Apply and restart(?!) don't want to use my old pci card (ESI waveterminal 192X) just for itunes, and don't wanna use the built in sound card either (don't think windows will like more than 1 soundcard installed....)

Any ideas ???

Loves.

Have you turned the onboard soundcard (and waveterminal, if it's still plugged in) off in your BIOS?
Have you uninstalled the waveterminal card?           //Zeyon.

the built-in soundcard is turned off in the BIOS.
The waveterminal is unpluged and uninstalled.

The problem appears in another XP SP2 computer too.

I run mine in XP SP2, not fully upgraded as it isn't permanently connected to the Internet.
Could be that you have to check the drivers you're using in the "sounds menu" or change them to a different..           //Zeyon.

Zeyon, not really sure what's going on there, I consider myself sort of an XP expert (meaning I've ruined quite a lot of installations in the past and always tried to learn what caused it ) and this is really weird because the WDM (windows) drivers are installed and recognised by the OS, it just wouldn't accept them, when I press Apply after choosing the right ones. It keeps insisting there's no audio device available.
Think this will need to go through MOTU's customer service ppl, at the moment I'll enable the AC97 drivers because I want to hear music as well as cubase projects.
Thanks for your help, if anyone has an idea it'll be appriciated.
