Greetings to all my fellow isratrance members
im thinking of updating my sound card and wanted some opinions on the topic...
i have a studio composed of 10 hardware synths and 1 hardware sampler... which i currently mix all into my mixers into my current sound card which sounds good but only has 1 stereo input which by now im hating the flexiability of routin plus the whole thing of recording one track at a time has really made my life a real bitch when it comes to recording and with my hectic tight schedule is gettin harder to find time to work on my projects... therefore i need more inputs and better sound quality if im going to upgrade obviously.... i also wanna record now directly into the sound card and skip my hardware mixers which i might plan to sell...
i just like the way the signal sounds directly instead of thrue my mixer which to me it tends to lower the strenth of my signal... in otherwords direct input to my soundcard just happens to sound richer, cleaner to my ears.. my two choices are as follow\
MOTU 24I/O or RME Fireface 400.
i like the motu cus it has 24 inputs OMG!!!!
thats perfect.
i like the rme cus from what i've read and hear is that it just top class a league of their own...
please post ur opinions im really interested in what you all have to say...
peace BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First law in your case: just consider motu if you run a Mac.
Even so I d go with RME cause as you said is a top class sound card, with perfect drivers, no headache and great conversion capability for the budget. |

Motu's are generally designed for Macs that's why he probably said it..Though there's no reason why they shouldn't work with PC's too..
I'm running a FF 400, no problems, rock solid drivers, great pre-amps & converters..Don't know if it has enough inputs for you though?

2 totally different audio cards! do you need 24 analog inputs/outputs? or do you need firewire audio? adat? etc..
do you own a mixer with 24 inputs? or do you mix inside the box?
besides that RME sounds better, better AD/DA and stability - no problems.
check also RME Mulitface 2

whats up praecox...
i don't need the 24 inputs as a most as long as i have more more than one stereo input at minimum 4 stereo ins to make my recordings easier and faster , but 24 inputs is obviously awesome considering i got so much out board gear....i mix with a hardware mixer nowdays but im planning to go direct from the synth to the soundcard....
to mix inside the box...because to me it sounds so much better
what are ur views between those 2 that i mentioned and between the 2 rme's (the one i mentioned and the multiface 2 that u mentioned)
thanx again for everyones input keep em coming
peace
