+1 for going outside. i bring my laptop near the beach, and it feels very timeless. gives my songs the feel of the ocean too. also the forest is a good place.

Wow!! I could never expect better approach and tips that all you guys have just written here. I may say thanks for that!

Hahahah…. I wish I could buy a flight ticket for you guys to come and change (a bit) this commercial scene over here. But I’m afraid it won’t be possible right now… hehe

And I’m on producing definitely not for the money coz luckily or not I have my job. But after all, the weird thing is since some of my friends, which started to appreciate psytrance with me (like 11 years ago), they are now cursing our music style and saying all kinds of bullshit like “that time has passed”, “junk music”, “I have no patience for that”, “it is all the same” and bla bla bla… now I’m sure that psytrance is much more about “something else” than ever. For sure psytrance is a different language for my brain; could call it spiritual, fancy, elaborated, raving… whatever. It is different!

Most of people cannot combine psytrance with a healthy life and I’m not totally against that coz in general parties mean drugs… I didn’t want to patronize it is just my humble opinion. Fortunately I’ve been always on sports as well. Then I don’t have problems with that… I think I could achieve the balance between both.

Thanks for all comments! And let’s keep it up!

This is my best tip for motivation!.

Unfortunately this works(for me) best when i´m taking a long bus journey somewhere or something like that, when your in a place for really long time(ive a lot to india there you sometimes have to sit for 30 hours) and dont have alot to do.
What i then do is listen to really good music and analyze what i here, get idea, get inspiration, get FUCKING motivated of what i want to do and how to do it!.

Then when i meet my final destination i have lots of new ideas and a burning motivation!.
Ofcourse you dont have to go on a long journey to do this, just really listen to the music. Dont do 100 other things, just simply sit and listen to the music, if its boring take a walk outside and listen to ure favorite music.           .

i agree that a lot of people can't hang with both a healthy life and EDM.. there's the omnipresent feeling outside of the community that it is 'ecstasy music'... and seeing some of the people who frequent raves, they kinda have a point...
as for me, the music is the glue that holds all the elements of my life together, and the only way it makes sense. i wish everyone could get on the same page and stop taking horrible shit.

maybe this may sound a dumb advice but it's kinda working for me, my girlfriend is very into Feng Shui, the place for creativity must be placed according to Feng Shui so we moved our office to a certain area of the house and it's been working very nice for me, for the first time i made a bassline with alien303 lol and now i seem to understand compression by hearing it work, then again it may be just coincidence
The fact is that here in Portugal is 8 am and i'm making music
Just my thoughts take care

lol i was expecting something like this . At the time i don't have that much money to spend on acoustics so i'm working on headphones for now, and u do need some creativity to make a good bass or at least to take the time set your mind to do it, i don't have much time for music but i really love to do it and the fact is that moving to this room gave some sort of a boost, as i said could be coincidence but who knows?

I think you need an objective for each track.

Every single track you make needs to have a final destination.

Can be for a contest or a VS track where you dont want to disapoint your partner or a Remix where you dont want do dishonour the author's work and if is just your track think of where it will end up, a single? an EP? an Album or VA?

No point nor any motivation if you are just doing tracks for your shelf(some people get a kick out of it though).

Error trial until you are capable of doing a good track and add a destination to it before you even start it.           http://www.MindDoctorsMakeAcid.com

Well, the ultimate form of motivation for me, for the studio or in everyday life, is my fortnightly acid trip. A night full of tWist and a shanti morning cleanses my inner system and makes me good-to-go for the next two weeks. . even meditation on an everyday basis. has worked wonders for me. the state of mind is absolutely wonderful.

and turn yourself into a gibbering reck in your 30s
................just like me
but seriously you really shouldnt be taking acid on your own....you will internalise your trips( very very bad idea)

i agree to an extent. but there's something magnificent about tripping alone. especially with a guitar in hand or a keyboard. helps me break into new territories of creativity. besides, i almost always trip with my band. and btw, the trips in my country on an average dont exceed 150 mics.

When you want something, do not find it.
When not looking, it bothers you.

@Obelizk... hahahah!

great link! i was laughing reading "Getting Leverage On Yourself".

self-motivation is the most complicated thing to work with simply coz it evolves many direct and indirect subjects attached to our life. sometimes hard to handle... and still be motivated to keep focus up.

but I also re-discovered how important is the acceptance from the people who we admire (friends, family, partner, whatever...). great motivation source.
