This is sort of a newbie question.. but here goes.

I was previously using an 865 motherboard and while I was using FL6 my computer hung, wouldnt start and I realized that my board got fried.

Did a little research and bought myself a 945 board with 2gb RAM and I faced the same problem a few months later.

Any idea what the problem could be? Also need to get a new board so a few suggestions would be helpful!

+1 for PSU, but also make sure you have clean fans and good airflow, a heavy job will cause excess processor heat and may damage components if they aren't cooled properly.

I remember about 10 years ago trying to compress a 600mb file on a 60mhz 386, it overheated and took out the whole machine!

I'll have my PSU checked out. In the meantime any suggestions for a board?

@mk47 - thanks, will look that one up.

Take a look @ DFI, Asus or MSI boards.

But I really suggest you a new PSU by Enermax or Be Quiet.
They're worth every bit of money. DON'T get a new board before you changed the PSU.

Good luck.           http://www.myspace.com/axonic
