I'd like to know how cleverly chopped vocals are made. I've endlessly experimented with scissors tool and got no where.

i don`t know exactly what you mean with chopped vocals..a sample would be helpful..but if you use cubase...just try different timestrech modi and strech your vocal region a little bid..one of the modi does not work prober.. so it will sound really compupupuputerlike and maybe thats what you are searching for..

good luck           -------......-------...-..-..-..-.-.-.-.-

Nice effect: take two or more versions of the same vocal sample, and pitch them differently and play at the same time, and maybe play with panning.

Cleverly thinking of course... think how do you want it to so-o-o-ound do-do you know what I me-e-e-ean?

Is not the choping but having an idea of the stuttering and most of the times following a groove, kinda like placing percs or leadnotes. That works for me i had same doubt before.

I understand what your sying but sometimes if the chopp clips all around it's not easy to make it gro-o-ove-y
i still can't do it           Tudo que é melhor e mais superior em mim saúda tudo que é melhor e mais alto em si

Indeed true! Having the right idea of what u are doing is a good start point.

Other is to be very carefull when syncing the vocal to the bpm, so the "cuts" will sound better...

I´ve read some tips for vocals, and tried them once. For me I still prefer working with audio only, but...

Cut ALL the words, and if possible the sylabs. Then u can use a sampler to trigger the vocal. It can be easier to mess with the "cuts" and make some changes on melody, but I don´t like midi so much...

Other tip from master strutter BT: when working with vocals, he use 3 differents bpms. If the track is 130, he makes 3 vocal versions: 130, 65 and 120. Then a lot of cutting, and then try what fits the most.           LOADING...

you can load it into a slicer and cut it up. like FL slicer, or you can load it into a wave editor and cut up the words and sylables.

what i like to to do is take a long sample of a female singing a note (not words) and put a triggergate on it to give it the stutter effect

ahhhhhhh-ah-ah ahhh-ah-ah-ah-ah

all three ways can acomplish the same effect. but each way will give you control of defferant parameters. do what works best for you
