Hello all,

For P4, which mother board is better (music compatibility-wise)? Sis 645-based mother boards or intel 845-based mother boards?

10x in advance

Music wise it doesn't matter.
Compatibiliy either.

It is only the matter of performance.           -=Lead System Designer=-

I suggest you to purchase board that supports RDRAM (800 Mhz).

Intel Garibaldi 850 for example.

And as usual, more expensive is better.           -=Lead System Designer=-

Watch out for Garribaldy motherboards, they are bad with audio ( at least they were some half a year ago ) - if I was u I would check out with Steinberg, on their site which configuration THEY suggest for P4, that's the best way

Yuli, I think you mean an "on-board" audio. Which is really "bad" in all motherboards.

If you planning to buy some good sound card, so it doesn't matter.

It is only matter of performance.           -=Lead System Designer=-

CyberPunk:

Sure it matters, different chipsets and configurations can affect of how the soundcard will work. And all the other PCI cards.

Exactly ! This is what I mean(replying to the Yuli's post) !

My point was: if it is "bad", so it is bad with all the cards, not just audio !

So, it is a matter of performance.

Intel Motherboards gives you a more stable system if you are using P4           " we should be flying today at altitudes unlimited,

Thx everyone for your help. I can't seem to find anything in this matter in Steinberg's website, though.

Thx again

Get an Asus motherboard with either Intel/AMD platform, both are pretty reliable.           "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience"
