What are the most atmospheric chill albums?
I mean with nice floating long layering sounds on the background.

Thanks in advance.

Hm, hard to guess what you mean. If you are talking about really deep ambient I could suggest Pete Namlook and Dr. Atmo - Silence, Spyra - Meditationen.

Give Ultimae Records' Mahiane's Albedo a try, I think you rather mean that kind of music.           http://enjoys.it

for pure ambient i can fully recommend both Between Interval releases, 'Secret Observatory' is dark and moody and 'Autumn continent' is lighter and dreamy...genius. If you order these from the artist website he posts them directly 2 U (signed copies on request)...

Mathew Florianz also makes intersesting ambient drone. I have absorbed Grijsgebied & Tone t(h)rees. His recording are very soft so you have to turn up and listen quietly...and def fits the description for atmospheric sounds.

Maitreya has 3 releases, all good. Telluric waves is his best work, its consists of pulsating drones with carefull melody and feel.

also for something broody check out Robert Henke (aka monolake)-layering buddha...which is recordings taken from the Buddha Machine portable ambient loop player..very grainy and dusty ambient drones...can get pretty intense in places.

and..for something different and experimental Nekton Falls on Celestial dragon is a major new ambient work of 3 cd's....drones, chopped up voices...static bursts...muted bouncing ping pong balls...

happy ambient new year
