what are your experiences and opinions regarding more then one parties on the same night or weekend. im not talking about the "euphoric female vocal trance scene" or the "tribal house scene"... im talking about our scene, the psytrance scene (seems lately you have to announce what scene youre talking about in this forum  ). can your city support such an occurance without financially hurting one or both organizations? is it morally frowned upon? does it happen at all? if so - how many times? and why? is due to rivalry? is it due to coordination mistakes? is it due to disrespect and a general uncaring energy between the orgs.?

it doesn't usually happen here in the NW, not in the same city at least. i think promotors even try to not have something in PDX and Seattle simultaneously.
too small of a scene i reckon, tho i'd be down for some choices occasionally |

In LA I think it would be stupid to have 2 parties on the same night. Since the scene isnt THAT big yet. It would split the crowd in half. It seems its done every other week.

Even every other week is not such a good idea, at list for NY, most partys here cost about 30 $ and a lot of people can’t afford that every other week (I am referring more to the international acts that ate booked to play in the city) we just don’t have that much of an audience, and to come to a party and see an empty space just a bummer, not to talk about the organizers who loose money on this

In Detroit we have two parties simultaneoulsy ALL the time.
Lets see.. There's one in my car.. then there's my frnds home studio.. ahh!! All the time guys... we have no regard for each other feelings or financial investments. We ruthless and in it only for the moolah 
but on a serious note.. even one party a month wud be great here.

And why would you need more than one psytrance party in one night? That causes dividing of the crowd and battle for prestige between psy party crews which is one of the most disgusting things that can happen to a psytrance community. That is pure commercialism. All you need is a party with an awesome crowd and then a circle of friends and and a chill sport for an afterparty. |

Jason the guy behind the bridge got bucket of shitload right on his head why ????Becouse no1 showed up ?
what was he supposed to do? play for few people 72 hours???
it is a bit disrescpectful to have three parties in one weekend. i agree, it divides an already small scene and brings negative energy. so who is the winner?? the one with most $$$. fuck that! or the one with most people? fuck that too!!
i can't imagine anything better, honest, than having a chill out party after a psy trance. i remember thousand people in old churches in London smoking, lying down, just doing NOTHING! it's great for rebuilding energy . . .

There's a lot of talk about having 2 parties in one night being "disrespectful"... I think this kind of misses the point, because nobody does this intentionally.
The planning phaze of a party is usually months in advance. We had a couple party weekends here in San Francisco where this was happening, people didn't know others were planning a party until after venues were booked and artist plane tickets were reserved.
People on our local 604 list got an open, online calendar that people could post potential dates on. I'm not sure how well it worked. At the moment I think most promoters announce tenative dates on our 604 list to cross check with other people.

I have to agree with miEtek, two or three parties in one weekend is simply not right and disrespectful to organizers, especially the ones who scheduled their events way in advance (I think Surrender mentioned this in another topic earlier last week...)
This competition shit is not healthy, it only hurts an already weak NY psytrance community even more.

well, im glad some of you got my point 
i think its funny to see the promoters who write comments like "good energy, boom shanti, unity, etc etc etc on their events and then go on and completely screw an already scheduled event (and even have the guts to go promote their event at the one they screwed over). i see little or no connection in the truthful sense of those words to the actual reality of the matter. the only connection i see with those words are the promoter's recognition that people like to hear them and it might make their event of person more "trance attractive" to the readers... truly abusive and sad.
Aeon my friend - this happens in nyc at least intentionally by at least 2 crews that come to mind quicky.... not once or twice either... im glad u have that innocence/respect there on the west coast - it is a blessing!

I dont think any promoter would want do do this on purpose. It does not make any sense at all. I am friends with most of the local promoters, and no one likes to compete or split up the crowd to two different parties. However, being that promoters don't usually discuss their plans a head of time with anyone else, sometimes there will be two different promoters planning a party at around the same time. Once the info. is out, its too late to change dates, and some people may find this offensive...

Damn... that is seriously not even in our universe over here. Not only is the scene tight enough that people wouldn't want to screw over their friends or friendly aquaintances, but it's just not smart either, sales-wise. I'm sure you have bigger numbers of potential party goers over there that it's not the same kind of issue.
