It's a really nice synth.. hell, it's a Moog but it's monophonic, and it has only lowpass filter. Most propably you won't make killer leads with this considering the lack of different filter types, but you can cram out some nice basslines maybe... then again, a lot of synths does
Personally i'd use the dough on more versatile synth, but in the end it all comes down to taste and preference.

AFAIK the Slim Phatty has the same envelope chip as the Voyager, in which case the ADSR is lightning fast.
Most probably you will make absolutely killa LPF leads and if you have a nice multimode external/software filter, you will cover the rest.
Its not as deep as many cheaper hardware synths, but it leaves them standing in terms of raw sound.
Peace out.

Not a real one, only the Moog patches from Trillian, which is no use of posting as the SH-101 Trillian patches don't sound as good as the real Roland SH-101 bass patches. The software filter and ADSR on Trillian is nothing like the ADSR and VCF on the real analog synths.
Peace out.

The reason I don't have a Mood synth is because I get my bassline duty covered by Trillian but most importantly the Roland SH-101.
My next buy is the x0xb0x cause I am a sucker for 303 basslines and acid lines.
After I get that, I'll get the Voyager rack
Peace out.

Only having a lowpass filter kinda is a showstopper for me, but it WILL be killer for basslines. I'm not a huge analog enthusiast. I like VA better but yes, Moog is known for their unrivalled sound..
I'm just a simple joe and being so much in love with stuff like Virus and Supernova, i'm not the right person to ask. Just because i like another synth better, this could still be your favorite synth.
What i do before deciding what to buy is to google around for reviews, and often i download the manual too from the manufacturer's website... The manual will cover everything, and you will quickly see if the synth is for you or not. Then try to find a store where you can try it out for yourself (or maybe a friend has one)...
This is expensive hardware, so for me, the most important thing is to make the right decisions when blowing this much money.

Ah You're gonna build the x0x yourself, or find a finished one on eBay or something??
I built quite a few synths myself too Nothing beats the feeling of tweaking the knobs of your homemade hardware!
....sry for going offtopic :S

from what i have heard of it i really like the filter and the overdrive ..oscillator seems to lack something, it sound closer to a VA than a vintage synth. |
