I cannot stress how good the Moog MF-102 Ring Modulator sounds. Good thing it has a Carrier In input so I can send patterns from any source to do consonant clangs and bell tones, or controlled dissonant weirdness.
It is THE '50s sci-fi/Dalek effects module.
Love it!

That's dirt cheap! I trade my MF-107 FreqBox for the MF-102 and a ProCo Rat 2 pedal for the x0x0x....still have a 50€ credit with Thomann.
Make sure you use it with a synth, and send another synth line in the Carrier In for controlled clangs and bells. The overdrive add some nice warm grit as well.
The good thing about the MF-102 is that is has a Carrier In signal, that effectively by passes the Frequency knob that commands the frequency of the VCO in the MF-102. So having that input means that I can send the output of the x0xb0x (or any soft synth) in the Carrier In input with a corresponding MIDI file (that can varry from the MIDI sequencing the Phatty...something that was not possible in my old Doepfer modular when using Ring Mod patches) to have consonant clangs when processing the Moog Phatty, or controlled dissonant chaos.
On top of that when not using the Cariier In input, I can manual tweak the MF-102's frequency knobs that makes brilliant sounding metallic FM sounds. It also has an LFO that adds movement.

Peace.
currently have only one synth (it's a novation x station so more of a midi controller) but have started saving for studio equipment. Dsi tempest in a few weeks!!!!!
How is the Rat overdrive compared to the boss on the xoxbox?
I don't have the BOSS pedal. The Rat has that raw edgy sound I really like, although the distortion I get from overdriving the x0xb0x in the Moog Phatty is also brilliant, it just does not distort as much as you can distort the RAT, but the tones are different, yet both are very usable.
Must say that the MF-102 and MF-108 give a very warm subtle over drive that is different to the RAT and the Slim Phatty.
I have never really seen a vst plugin that has good ring modulation, I guess one really needs to utilize Mr Moogs machine, I would love to hear some more samples Nectarios!
Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:

Will do soon. I am using it a lot on the track I am currently working. I am also using this baby a lot
The ProCo RAT2 is like some really strong acid in waveforms, scratching you behind your eyeballs in the nicest possible way
It makes Logic's ES2 come alive. F@ck Decapitator and switching modes and fiddling with knobs trying to find the sweet spot...you just run something through the RAT, turn up the input gain and you're home. This is the real deal.
