yep that's why the audio system with subwoofer are .1 and not .2

The .1 channel that goes to the sub woofer is considered inferior because it contains only the low frequencies (600Hz and below if i'm not mistaken)           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

i think you didn't get my point (either i didn't get yours), i mean the-hear-cant-feel-low-frequency-direction is why audio systems with subwoofer only have one woofer

what did you try to say here? what is inferior?
btw, in quite a number of systems, cutoff frequency can be changed. it depends on the size of your front speakers - the larger they are, the lower the cutoff frequency.           http://myspace.com/voxproject

I was referring to the bass channel of 5.1 configuration (Dolby Digital AC3). It's a signal that contains information from 10Hz~80,120 or 150Hz.

what if you have a sample of a kick in stereo and when you start mixing down, putting it in mono will this affect the kick's dynamics? im assuming no, but thought id ask.

hi orbit!

if you have a stereo kick sample, i assume you have it for one reason: the both channels are not identical (else you could use a mono kick, right? ).
so if you now mix this stereo kick to mono and the two channels are not the same you might get trouble because the slight differences in both channels.

it's better to simply use one of the both channels and use it as mono.

greetings!

would this be a matter of hard panning before mixdown to mono?
