hey guys!
I found some threads about that here, but was in the past...
I wanna give a fresh opinions about that...you still producing at "mono-compatible" mode?
I´m working in a album now, and this is a big question for me. I analyze some new releases, and I see some of producers still working at mono-compatible, but another no...
when go to mono-compatible you need to design the timbre, or take time processing, eqing, analizing phase, etc...to get a mono-compatible mix with less stereo image loosing..but, everytime you loose some minimum stereo-space...
nowadays, it´s important for you spend that time, and loose that stereo field? why?

No you don't. Wide stereo can translate to mono just fine, as long as the phase of the respective channels, is in check.

Its just something that stayed with my from the old vinyl/mono radio station days. I just made sure I kept aways from stereo widening plug ins that fucked up the phase of the channel to the extent where you'd loose it when played back in mono.
It does not take a lot of extra time to sort out, just know your plug ins and push the mono tab on the master every now and then to check what is going on.
Peace out.
