Either they give an (unbiased) flat frequency response, i.e.: they give a linear output of the input (not biasing one frequency over another). Or they are dead |

i dont know the tapco sound but mackie are good ones
i have the bx-8 and im very satisfied with them they have minor problems in the stereo image and dont give the best representation on reverb tails because they have a very tight woofer but overall they are pretty good for they money
tannoy are also good but not so loud only 50watts and dont have a lot of bass but thats not bad

I use a second-hand hifi amp with mine, cost me £20. But you're right; with an active setup this problem is irrelevant.

If I may... yes I did buy the RA8Ms. But, I have to say, so far I've been dissapointed, because at Colin's (who has the older version, i should point out) they sound amazing, so amazing that I didnt buy Mackie HR824's which were my other choice. But in my studio, they sound horrible in the bass and mids. So, I've been messing with amp/ mixer settings, placements, foam wedges, drapes in the studio, etc etc.. and no solution. Now, I'm looking for a new amp, maybe an eq as well.
So people, think carefully... sometimes its better to buy the actives, and if possible, check them out in your own studio before you buy them for real. |

no, i definately did not mean Bx8.
Zito elada file........
Also, when you order RA8s, they make them to order. They tell you it will be 3 weeks, but you wait more than 6, because they are so high in demand.
So, if anyone wants to buy some, I have a fresh pair waiting here. Selling for £350 + postage. |

phu, .
a flat response means that the balance of frequencies comming from the monitors is close to the signal that is going in.,
this is good.,
but here is more to monitors.,
there is also phase response., this is sometimes not so flat (bad thing).,,
and there is also resonance.,
which mean there is some part of the monitor that starts vibrating along to certain frequencies.,
this could mean that certain frequencies are accented or absorbed., so this is also a bad thing (for a monitor).,
and finaly there is cone resonance stuf .,
this is when the cone of the monitor continiues to vibrate after the signal stopped., and this is of course a bad thing as well.,
and there is even more, but i dont think i know enough to start talking about it
choosing the right monitors is such a pain .,.,
ooh yeah, and placing them is also a big pain.,.
best thing i found out is to just try them for a week or so., to see if they work well in the studio.,
anyway,
greets.,

thanks zil man
yeah... painy indeed
but yeah... i think i'll take home bx8 and tapco s8 for testing and so.. i've read many reviews of bx8 but haven't really found any reviews of tapco by mackie s8 monitors...
i can partly feel already that i will choose those bx8's but we'll see
bx8 has also a really good manual with it how to place monitors right, depending on your room size/shape etc.
and about the acoustic... check this out about/of bx8

looks and sounds really promising.
hell yeah

Im gonna go for the Alesis M1... I had to choose between alesis m1, bx8 and tannoy reveal.. Tannoy was my 1st choice but since the shop has not stock left and told me to wait 2 months, I have decided to go the alesis...

I use genelec 1030 monitors. mostly you cant listen much bass sound but for high frequencies for me is the best. very clear sound
anyway i use a genelec woofer 1070a to listen good the bass so both things work perfect.lots of bass and great quality in the high frequencies...
