yeah, check 2nd hand...
(or even better, lots of shops sell the stuff they have on display at clearence prices, I got my nl like that, very cheap, and as new...and with warrantie...)

These topics on monitors keep poping over and over again.
I would advise you to do this
1) Read reviews on monitors zzounds has got that even if you are not buying from them still read it.
2) Compare the specs
3) You gotta listen to them, don't just buy them off the net without listening to them.
4) If you think you are not happy with what you are buying don't buy it just for the sake of rushing things, save some money and buy better ones.
