I'm trying to upgrade my monitor placement in my studio...currently i have my monitors standing on the desk on top of thick books and isopads (made of foam). I know it´s not a perfect solution but i dont have the option og having proper stands away from the desk.

I was wondering if something like this would make a difference or not?

if you have decent foam to decouple your monitors for the desk i dont think that would make a difference.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Sorbothane or Sylomer (more difficult to come by) is best (both designed to reduce vibrations), but you need to calculate the monitor weight to the thickness of the pad to get the resonant peak below 10Hz for best decoupling. Foam won't do a very good job.

I use Sorbothane pads from IsolateIt.com

I'm looking into monitor stands for my ATCs right now, they weigh 30kg each. Probably make my own, or go with something from Jasper, Sound Anchor or Tower Sonic.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

They look amazing but pricey. The Quik lok have a good price but i dont know if they are suited for holding studio monitors isolating them from the desk

I have these & they're really good. Empty cavity which you can fill with sand or pellets to make them even heavier.
