Anyone knows more or less how far from u the monitors should be from u?

I notice huge diference in diferent positions (mostly in bass), and I thing I might have them maybe a bit too close to me

I already changed all my room setting so I could have them a bit more distant, and I think it really improved things, it can really affect your mix, but still I don't think its enough...

I know they should be same distance from me and from each other, doing like a triangle, but how distant (minimum)?

you should be away from your monitors, the same distance they are away from each other. If they are too close, move them.

my distance is 1.5meters/5feet

Best placement for stereo with nearfield speakers is at the corners of an equilateral triangle with your head: if your speakers are 1 metre apart, you should be 1 metre away from each of them at the mixing position. Put the speakers either side of your computer monitor and point them at your ears; make sure that the drivers are at the same level as your ears.

30-40 cm is probably too close, unless the speakers are only 30-40 cm apart - but most computer monitors are bigger than that!

30cm?
it's a joke right ?

mate - I have 2 19" VGA screens between my monitors....
plus add the space between the monitors and the screens.

1.5 meters is a perfectly good distance my friend.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

monitors must make a 60 angle between them.
from you it can be from 0.7m to 2m.
always must be some symetry in the room.i mean if one is close to wall and one is close more it is not good.
but anyway that's the basics.
always also good to see at the manual when you buy monitors , they know exactly how to place them so dont ask here just look on the manual that's the best.

nearfield monitors loose their effect when u go too far from them. I would say Colin's and Trip-'s answers were the right ones here... But one thing to add - u shouldnt make a distance more than 1.5 meters since u might get the sound a little distorted and the stereo image misplaced.

I think the best distance is between 1.2 to 1.5 meters           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Ok, guys thanks for all the replies, after some crazy searching I managed to find the manual,
and I found they recomend 3 to 4 ft

At the moment Im doing at about 70cm of each, must find a way to put them a bit more distance, and no problems with walls its in middle of room

Thanks a lot for all the quick replies

as i said.
also most of the monitors manuals says between 70cm and 2 meters so it is up to you to choose.
that's all.
