Hey guys,

So i'm about to sell my Barefoot MM27 monitors because i need some cash for construction of my first house. I'm having a really hard time letting them go. They are really amazing monitors, the best i've ever owned which makes the downgrade all the harder.

Which brings me to the question, what do i get now? I want to make sure i don't miss the low end extension of the MM27's too much.

So i've been doing some hard research and i think i've narrowed it down to the following:

1. K+H 0300
I used to own them before the Barefoots, and i trust them but they're the most expensive of the bunch, plus they max out easily and are a little uninspiring to work on since they're so flat. Slightly more than i was planning to spend, but i'll buy them for peace of mind. I might get the 0800 sub for them later on to free up some headroom.

2. PMC TB2SA MKII
Slightly cheaper than the 0300's, hard to find many reviews about them. My concern is that they will be a little light on the low end and they're only two-way.

3. Focal Twin 6BE / Solo + Sub
Same price as PMC's, i keep hearing mixed opinions about them. Some people praise them while others say to keep away! Is the hype surrounding focals all clever marketing?!

Someone help me make up my mind please!!

Another option is ADAM S3X-V's but they will be more expensive than the other three options. I'm also curious whether they have the same rattling noise issue that some users seem to be experiencing with the S3X-H.

Are there any other worthy monitors that i should be looking at? Ideally they should be 3-way and have very good low end extension.

With all my respect to the equipment section here, I doubt that you will find many people who actually own these monitors or have first hand experience, maybe the Focals but not the rest. So I think that most answers will start with sentences like "I read ...", "A friend told me ...", "A friend has ..." as it's mostly the case with the higher end gear here.

Eleusene is right i think no one have experience with all of these and it s so personal ,wihtout listening to them it s really hard to make the best choice, but i think you can t go wrong with any of these..personally i would go for less than 2000$ montiors and buy good converters and room acoustic if you haven t treated the room yet.

on gearslutz there is a topic about event opal, maybe check it have no idea if they are good but it s in your price range if i m right.

lol i was on your topic on gearslutz ,Trakworx resume well what i think too , sub is a must for club /sound sytem music if you want a good reference and to tweak well the low octave.

I'm also leaning towards the 0300 for now, they seem like the best choice after the Barefoots. My room is already well treated, that was the first thing i did.

I've gone through the whole thread on gearslutz about Event opals, but somehow i'm not too keen about them. Plus they're butt ugly, i wouldn't want to stare at those things whenever i'm in the studio.

As for converters, i don't know but i'm not really sold on them. You keep hearing some people say that it's night and day, yet others say they can't hear a difference. I might get a DAC later on, for now i'll stick to the DA on the steinberg mr816x.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

i think i would go with the 0300 too ,seems like it s the best low end,but the others + sub might be great too, they are probably all good enought to make great mix...

about the converters there is difference but after it depends how the ears are trained...
for years i have found my adam too sterile and unpleasant but a part of this was the rme sound that remove a bit of muscicality from everyhting you record ,everyhting sound a bit more digital , cold with no vibes, it s not night and day but it s there .

for me of course the pmc,I made the comparison.
What I can say ,all people in that room where the same opinion.I was the last one that convinced after a time that the pmc are with a huge difference of quality to the K&H.
I think this is a huge very clear difference.
It is pity if you have to buy without testing but I can imagine it is not that easy in Pakistan as in europe or us to get a few monitors for testing for a few days ..
Well about the Focals I cannot say anything, but the rest I know.
You wont regret the pmc for sure.
Its more than a good monitor and way more than the superb k&h.           https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden

TimeTraveller,

Did you find the PMC lacking in bass, as they only have a 6.5" driver? In comparison the K+H have a 8" driver.           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

Definetly no,it was the only monitor I ever had the feeling I see the waves detailed.
It has so much depths and clearity in bass. This hearing is an expirience itself.
