I wouldn't say max out your monitors' amplifiers levels.
My analog Spirit M, when monitors to output at very low knob level, the analog circuit introduces a pan.
Best working with those knobs NOT at extremes.
So I set my monitors' levels that way so the mixer at max will be VERY VERY loud... and at min VERY silent
and in the middle it'll be normal work volume.

i do same as you trip, but do you think the best frequency reponse of the monitors are when the mixer is neer zero db and the amplifiers at low level or all level in middles or the amplifiers loud and the mixer low? or maybe it s dont affect the frequency response |

It'll probably won't affect the frequency responce, but it'll change the noise level (hiss). Without going too technical, Trip method is good.

I'm using my monitors with full level at the monitor and control their volume in the mixer- seems the most logical way 4me,

Input:
I wouldn't tell you 'i told you so', after your console sends an unwanted sonic interruption one day - which might result in fried amplifiers and fried ears too.
Basicly it all depends on how loud you hear them when the monitor level is around middle on the mixer.

hi!
from most pro studios ive seen, the
monitors are crancked up all the way
in the input level, in order to get out
off the monitors there full ability,
but all you have to do is turn it down
by the mixer. |

How I understand, with regards to blown speakers, the most common thing to happen is that you blow your tweeters when overloading the input to the amp.
So the more power the amp have, the less chance of blowing your speaker.
And the amps do like to work a bit, but maybe it's not always advisable to have them turned up 100%.
My active speakers will start distorting if i have a loud output on the mixer and turn the amp to full. Around 3/4 is as loud as the cones can handle, and there is where i keep my volume knobs.
Can't swear that it's the technically correct way, but especially since i control output level digitally I figure it's no point to have the amp higher than the speakers can handle.
With an analogue mixer it is recommended to have the amp on full what i know.
