I'm looking for solutions to use my monitors with cd player. So i want sound from to CD player to active monitors.

monitors have XLR and jack connectors.

i just cannot figure this out and actually i'm not interested to buy a mixer and cd player.

computer as player is out of questions =)           ""

is it possible to get decent sound with converter? like CD player's RCA -> monitors Jack/XLR? that's what you meant? that would be pretty easy and nice solution but would it be good solution?

would i need some kind of volume control or preamp between CD player and monitor?

i've got only active monitors here and gonna buy cd player and other stuff what's needed          ""

the easiest way would be buying a cheap mixer but since you dont want a mixer i dunno man, you could always get a passive non coloring volume control.

It should be fine, I've done that with my iPod often.

yeh.. i just would like to keep it simple - CD player to play tracks and monitors to make the sound, not any kind of mixer hanging in my living room =)

are you sure it's not necessary to have also a preamp to take advantage of passive volume controller? :S (i'm messed up with my sentences, hehe)

gotta think again to buy a mixer           ""

Don't monitors have rca connection as well? (or is it a big jack only?) I assume the cd player has small jack output? And how will you separate the signal to left/right out of cd player? unless it has two rca for stereo signal           Monitoring devices, know where you go

Do you have a cd player or not? Do you want the cd player connected to the monitors all the time or are you using them with your DAW as well? If not, you don't really need a mixer. If your cd player (or the one you're looking at) doesn't have any kind of volume control, just get a passive volume control or routing device.

You don't need a preamp or any active component between the two. Never a great idea to plug an amp into another amp if you're already working with line level signal. Using adapters for the XLR>phono connection will sound fine for short distances.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?
