I hate to do that once more...

Behringer are a company that makes it's profits ( at least at monitors and mixing boards ) by stealing other big products design and covering with it insuficcient possibilities.

I happened to hear Behringer speakers a few times and I have no doubt that I definitely dislike their sound. And I also don't agree with the above about the low freq response - I think they got distorted really easy - BUT it is many times matter of taste.

About the buttons in the back which you can tweak - then let me tell you all - these buttons are actually EQ of the speakers Amplifier so if you tweak them from ZERO than you haven't got the FLAT monitor anymore.

One more thing - let's not forget that both models, Event and Behringer , imitate the big brother Genelec.

Last but not least - although I like the Event much more - they are not altogether awesome and have their own faulties, such as their boxes 'breathe' when hard basses come into action and I fixed that problem myself using some silicon + they have a little flop at the low mid range ( some 220-350 I guess )

Check Halilit I think they are the importers.

I don't advise the six inch verse tho. Go for the eight inch. If it's too expensive ( it can get up till 7500 I think ) U can check of buying Amplified Tannoy Reveal. Again, personal taste only.

The Tannoy Reveal doesn't have a very good low end. It goes as low as 70hz as fas as I know.

Maybe that is correct - I haven't looked at the manual . I do trust my ear though - their sound is punchy ( a little bit too punchy ) and there is nothing wrong with the basses at least for the price they are sold for...

Again - you want higher level speakers, you have to pay the price...           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

For me its really a matter of taste because you can get used to both of em.
since these monitors are pretty convinient to buy because of their price they both are not too flat (there is no monitor that is, but there is some who get closed to it) ..
for me the event have warm and very large low-freq range which sometimes confuses be cause it too much. also and they are pretty bright and clear in the hi-freqs.
i used the behringer a few times and from what i heard they have a problem in the hi-mid freq that is getting distorted quickly and smaller bass then the event, still, you can get used to anything , sometimes i hear thru a small tape recorder when i mix (you should try it) .
To say it clear- choose what sound you like most and sounds good in your room, the rest is up to you.

I have owned event 20/20 actives for about 3 years. Each speaker has a 70 W amp for the tweater & a 130 W amp for the driver (which is 8").

specs - i think they are rated as being flat response (+ or - 1.5 dB) between about 60Hz-18kHz (which is reasonably flat for a monitor in this price range)

I was looking at the alesis monitor one aswell when i bought these but decided to go with the events because of better bottom end.
They have a very nice rounded flat sound but not as bright as some others in the mid/top so they are nice to listen to but not as detailed as some others such as mackies.

In australia they retail for AUS$3000 but mine were ex-demo from a shop & i got them for AUS$1500 (which is about what the alesis monitor one & amplifier system costs)

If bottom end is a major concern then maybe look at the event tri-amp models with a tuned subwoofer included.

have been told by those ´in the know´ that JBL monitors are the best.

Thoughts on this? And are they suited to psy?

I never heard of any trance artists working with JBL's. The most common, as far as I know are the Behringers and the Events.
