krk the mid range is pronounced so it maybe suited for rock.mids are the sweet spot for vocals

i got the krk rpg6. it was the best value for money on the shelf. the yamaha hs50 was in the same price range. i also listened to the 5"krk but you notice the weaker bass response.
the HS80 was sounded very flat and i liked them but they were out of my budget range.
The KRKs fit my room perfectly. very nice solid low end. (i don't think there weak at all) in the shop we open up the gain fully with no distortion.(on the demo pair, not mine) Louder than you'll ever need for monitoring.. i mean. i keep my amp volume gain at -20db (at -10 you can host host a house party).
They are pretty heavy well build monitors.
Some people say they have too much color for monitors. but they are just fine for me for the moment
-for entry level.
If i ever want to upgrade and i have a lot of pretty penny to spend i'll look at the dynaudio dm6a. apparently they're top shelf quality. -for home studios of course
Its like 1st learn to play keyboard on a inexpensive model before you decide to go buy a grand piano.

Ive read only good things about krk monitors .... i think you made a good choice for the budget.
When your ready you can look at dynaudio bm6a which are well respected in the trance world and also audition adam monitors in that price range.

I tried them. They were too noisy for me. But they are nt in the same price range as the speakers mentioned by the OP. |

adam sounds dry although maybe better but those ultra clean highs with the very dry mid/lows gets your ears tired faster!
im very happy with my bm5a dynas only complain is that i would prefer they had little more power!

yes i think you need monitors that have the same curve the music you mix on it,no point of using monitors with lot of mids and no low end for psytrance, you won t enjoy the sound as much and maybe compensate for that in your mix,when what should sound good and translate well sound like crap it becomes a lot harder to get a good mix (like some electronic music with no lowend) |

I got 5x Adam A7 for surround..i really like those monitors..
Dynaudios are great too..yamaha sounds too metallic imo..
dont like KRK..a little too muddy imo..
never tried focal..
