hi
i've just read at genelec.com that monitors should be at a minimum of 5cms to 1m from walls.
dependending on the distance from wall there will be some phace cancelation... (there's a chart there explaining it all)
now... if the back of the monitors is not parallel to the wall?
will it matter?
thanks,
joao

Nearfield monitors should be facing your ears, ie. angled in towards the listening point. This means that (unless you have a very strangely shaped room) they will never be parallel to the walls anyway.

That's was my question: "if the back of the monitors is not parallel to the wall?"
not parallel, because they're angled...

yes, but far less than if they were parallel. it depends if they are cornered, either against the wall or against a piece of furniture - if they are, you will have reflections all over the place and that's a problem. and of course, the problem is less pronounced if the back of the speakers is completely sealed (no rear bassreflex).
