UPDATE: I went to a music store and had a listen to the edirol monitors I was looking at and decided that they weren't all that much better than my current speakers.

I was listening to infected Mushroom (:D) on them and the guy at the store said that if I want to make music like this, I would be better off getting some Behringer Truth monitors.

But I don't have the $$$..... hmmm.....any ideas people?

Second hand! Why didn't I think of that? Me is most stupid

But now, where to find second hand monitors? Where should I start looking?

Also, is there anything wrong with The Behringer Truth Monitors? Remember, music is only a hobby to me, I don't need top of the range monitors

Thanks for all help!

Hi again everyone! Sorry to ressurect an old thread but I couldn't be bothered to start a new one.

Anyways, I saw these Yamaha NS-10M's on the Australian eBay site.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2522094417&category=3278

The current price is $AUD 355, which is $US 180. Anyway I was wondering whether this is a good price and whether these monitors are active or passive (I don't particularly want to go looking for an amp aswell). Also, the person who's selling lives to far away from me to see the speakers.

I appreciate all help, cyas.

Their passive? So that means I'm gonna need an amp aswell? And if I do, what kind, and how much will it cost?(excuse my newB questions)

Also I don't think I'll have a chance to listen to any unfortunately, but anything'll be better than my yamaha computer speakers, lol

So how much do you think I should go up to in bidding if I decide to do so? (in US or Aus $$$) I'm not exactly sure how much I want to spend myself. If you've read my other posts you'll know I'm young and broke

Thanks for the help

Hmmm, your right about people bidding at the close of an auction, I have no idea how high the price'll go. All I know is I don't think I'll have enough money for both the monitors and the amp (especially if the bidding goes very high) It's a shame

Oh well, looks like my quest for monitors will continue...

I have the behringer truths...there are modeled pretty much straight off the really expensive mackies and sound almost as nice...the frequency response is very linear, and it doesn't sound right unless the high are cut down 2-4 db, but there's a switch on the back for it. Bass is pretty nice sounding on it, and you can use it for mastering well enough...

Man, this thread'll never die will it! LMFAO!

Anyway, are you pleased with the Behringer Truths?

I still think that maybe I'll get the Behringer Truths rather than the M-Audio BX8's because their cheaper and I can bearely wait any longer for some Monitors!
