Save up for a better pair man that's my advice to you..Its better to spend once rather than having to sell your old pair for a loss somewhere down the line and buying a better pair..           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

IMO you cant go wrong with the yamaha´s...

MSP series are very good monitors...

Never listened to HS series though

I am happy with my hs80 but a little bit to strong for my actual room.
I've heard alesis m1 active in my friends house - proper place and configuration makes them really good enough. I recommend them...

m-audio is crap
no idea about the yamaha, but since they are the same price range - i assume they are crap as well.

Yamaha all the way...HS80M are great for the price range, personally i dont like alesis m1 but its just a matter of taste, the problem ith the Yamaha is that indeed they are too "strong" or loud for a small room, but the HS50M lack of bass response, but i prefer them over M-Audio or Behringer, even Alesis.

yeah yamaha must be crap, and thats why all the big studios still use the ns10s isn't it?

Yam HS80M are rated flat within 10db. This is way off from, say, Mackie HR824, which claim to be rated flat within 1.5 db. Most monitors (even the Event TR8) claim flat within 3db.

between the 2 i would also prefer the yamahas
but deffinately not the ns10 thay sound like broken and lucking alot of low freq!

@astrotec again.
very few studios still have ns10 and even fewer of them actually use them they are very harsh and fatiguing to mix on!

they used to be very famous back in the days cos then not many studio nearfields existed and they had that mid freq sound character thet if something sounded ok on those will sound ok everywere!
but u need to consider that in those days super fat bass and turbo clean highs and high spl's or limited to 0db mixes wasnt the deal at all.
also mixes back than werent so busy nowadays monitors have to cope with 60-70 or more channels of audio with their peaks and booms and all that comes with mixing huge amount of channels they just cant take that and even more the super stronge sound of electronic music!

yes atropa but they can still help me with my adam ,but as a one and only pair not sure if it s a good advice, but that the only one you ll not sell later when you upgrade.some of the best studio heere still use ns 10 and some other monitors , not only one pair.
