First of all I think the wooden wall strips as you described can allready act like a diffuser. Not the bet one but still - it could be great if u could put the monitors on the parallel wall, but the window on one side isn't a great option - so i won't advice on it.

So your placement is optimal as I see it - before treating ur room acoustically, place the monitors as far as you can from the wall behind them, or find a better spot somwhere in between. I'd suggest having stands for the monitors - but if it's not available, I'm not sure the mopads will do much - other than checking if ur table is heavy and stable.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...
