daemon.i.k. you live in swiss ??
jaja undercover ...

It's kinda difficultchoice... i mean both are good monitors ...

the Dynaudios are just tested from a 1000 Tranceartists ... that's may also why most people writhe go for dynaudio ...

It's a hard decition ... i gonna listen to them again ...
because in Lenzburg ... i just listened to Techno on the Tannoys ... i want to try them with Jazz and Classical music ... next time i'll take some cds with me ...

hmmm the Mackies i haven't listened yet ...
maybe in the Soundhouse in Lucerne they have them ... but not sure ...
i'll check may i find some store ...
the House of Sound in Basel (like S-Cube sayed) could have them as well ... i think it's the biggest company in swiss for studio equipement ...

hugs

yessss i belong to:
Jah's undercover red-pocket-knife army;)
s-square (sorry i live in a dimension limited world) might too, hah uncovered!
I was in basel last week, but guess what, theire monitor shelf broke down one day before, so they didn't have any monitors at all. Anyway they won't show mackies like all the shops i checked and that's a lot.

So I'll try to get in touch with a guy, who has them in his Punk-Studio. And then pass some more time in Lenzburg.

...Compared with similarly priced passive monitors, the Precision 6s actually stand up very well and only the lack of low-end weight works against them, especially for those working on dance music where the low end is critical. In all, the Precision 6s turn in a very good performance within their size and price range — as long as they're teamed with a decent amplifier with adequate power to spare.

This is taken straight from sound on sound review.

Go for the Dynaudio's mate, unless u want to deal with acoustic stuff. I had some similar story in the past with KRK monitors @ friends studio - anything electronic was just impossible to mix.. on the other hand, for acoustic stuff those KRK were heaven on earth           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

I have some serious issues with Tannoy. They seem to have become a marketing driven company. That is NEVER a good thing.

The whole idea of their dual-concentric designs is that they are supposed to work as a point source for the audio so that all the frequencies arrive perfectly in phase. Then they go and add a SEPERATE super tweeter? They just broke half their design philosophy and made half their marketing and design claims invalid.

But the whole concept of a super tweeter is ridiculous. Despite what their marketing department might claim, it does not increase transient accuracy. ALL the sound that one hears is within the audible bandwidth and that includes any transients. Not only are our ears limited in frequency range but the media we use is also.

50Khz? Are they claiming that we should work at 192Khz? If they do they are either liars like many other companies or they don't understand audio and especially digital audio. Would you trust your monitoring to a company that is bullshiting you or doesn't understand audio?

If they are not claiming one should work at such ridiculous sampling rates, where do those frequencies come from? They are certainly not in the audio signal feeding the speakers. Maybe this is just distortion or other crap that shouldn't be there in the first place. Both scenarios are not good: Either the speaker is not accurate and is feeding you distortion or you are paying for something that doesn't generate any sound.

That is the second half of their marketing and design philosophy up in smoke.

There are valid reasons for a normal tweeter to have an extended frequency range beyond the audible bandwidth. Mainly it means that they will most likely have a more linear response within the audible range but we are not talking about a normal tweeter here. We are talking about an extra tweeter added for this specific purpouse.

Moral principal alone is a good enough reason not to give any money to this company. We should not encourage these companies that sell us snake oil.

Don't buy these speakers.
