Greetings!
I am having a particularly frustrating problem with ableton. I cannot for the life of me get a modulation wheel to work.
I have a MIDI controller called the X Session Pro. It does not have a mod wheel on it, but its midi-mapping software Enigma provides the ability to change the value of the controller, so I did. When I would test the midi map function of ableton on say, the play button, before the change to the mapping it would say "1/15" but now it says "1/1", so I know the MIDI map change on the controller went through.
However, neither Operator, Albino, or U-he's Ace synth (or any other for the matter) recognize that im moving the fader/knob that I have set to mod wheel. I can bind all the controller's keys (even the mod wheel I set up) to different parameters in ableton, in the synths, but no go with the mod wheel!
Am I missing something painfully obvious? Is there a mod wheel knob or assignable button in ableton/these synths that I'm missing!?!!?
U-he Ace has a "mod wheel" button that I can twiddle and assign to one of my controllers, however it has no effect on the sound as advertised by my setup or the patch description...its in the LFO section so I'm not sure if thats the same thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Remote and Track are both enabled for the USB device, and the ableton controls and mappable keys/knobs of the VSTs and Ableton synths can be controlled by the MIDI controller just fine...
I have tried every combination of track/remote/sync, changing the port from MME to direct music, and the only thing I succeed in doing is toggling ableton's ability to detect input from the device on or off
I assume that if I set my controller knob to "1" that is the default for Modulation Wheel (and my controller's software confirms that, it comes up with "Modulation" when I assign it to 1) and then launch Ableton, and Ableton picks up my controller, all instruments that have a modulation wheel parameter should automatically react to my controller without me mapping anything additionally, as I have not seen a modulation wheel button/knob/parameter to automate or bind to.
Is there something wrong in my logic? A step I am missing?
