Here's a track that has lots of samples from the old Doepfer. Bassline, sweeps, drones and 90% of the leads are the Doepfer as well.

Also the main leads and a few FM sweeps on this one.

Peace out.

Bass line drop @ 4:17 woohoo! Nice track, and patch advice will be awesome. Cheers Nectarios!

Just need to wait for the PM Foundation release and the availability for it in the UK.

One question for you guys: is it more expensive to build one of these modular systems than buying an already-built analog keyboard synth?

Those modular systems are really wacky and beautifull, and they are modular (what we do is rearrange the internal connections between components), but man they end up being huge! Then I imagine each component needs a power source, plus all the little cables to connect everything (and the issues cables bring, having to debug the whole patch to find out one cable is acting up), and there's no ability to save presets except taking a photo!           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

1) it depends on how much you spend on a modular, and how much you spend on a keyboard synth. i.e. a korg ms2000 is going to be a lot cheaper than a serge system, but you could buy a nice little modular system for way cheaper than a minimoog model d. more info needed on your budget, taste, and application, in order to answer this question properly!

2) yes, before you can do anything with a modular, you'll need a power supply, a rack, and at least one module. the beauty of this though, is that you can add to it as funds allow. i spent nearly ten years building mine up.

3) yes, there is no ability to save presets, OMFG, i actually have to COMMIT to a sound! IMHO, this is a GOOD thing!

for guys intrested , i checked some month ago i was thinking to start a small modular , in eurorack you need around 2000/2500 euros to get something decent to start then you can buy a module here and there..it s the price of a plugin..

in the US price are way cheaper like usual...

afaik from talking to grant (the wiard designer), the malekko euro modules are slightly different, in that they run on 12v as opposed to 15v (and so therefore heave less headroom), and use cheaper construction methods, PCBs, and thinner face plates, so are mechanically not as tough, however, i have it on good authority that they pretty much sound exactly the same.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Nice!
Although I can recommend two things that would make this very expensive beauty sound 10 times better;

1. Better monitors.
2. Acoustic treatment.

Peace out.

That was at the old place in Yokohama. If you check my web site you'll be pleased to hear that my new professionally designed mastering studio in Milan now has ATC monitors. Good enough?

Having said that, I used those same Yamaha MSP5 Studio monitors in the same room for over ten years, so came to know and love them very much!

My modular is only 7u now. Haven't turned it on in over nine months!

As I said above, over the last few years I've been doing less and less music writing/recording/playing out, and more and more mastering. I actually prefer the mastering to the music making, and so I sold off most of my studio when I moved from Yokohama to Milan last year, in order to fund the new mastering setup.

I do intend to go back to music making at some stage, when the muse strikes, and will fire up the modular again then, for sure, and will probably use the software VST Korg Wavestation and Urs Diva for pads. I made mainly ambient music. Check some of my stuff on SoundCloud, the track "The Nature Of Magick" will hopefully appeal to people here.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma
