Hello people of earth! I been having issues with the eq, of certain noises,I know how the spectral analizer has to look, is been explain to me many times, but some of my sounds, especially voices, tend to pick a lot, so my spectral analyser shows me that my mix freaking sucks haha, and I can see it, while trying to master a track, those picks always make some trouble at the time of compression, cuz they go way way down, or some how they get like a cancelation frequency effect, so I go to my eq, and try to cut those frequenies until they dont pick in my spectral analyzer no more, but I always end up with a really bad sound, cuz all the important frequencies are gone, so my question is: Is there some trick on how to reduce those massive picks, wihtout messing up the sound to much? or any tricks on how to use the eq properly in this cases? my main problem is human voices!
well, Thanks for your time, and have a cool day a 420 day!!! |

The human voice is probably the hardest thing to put into a mix properly, see what you can get away with, take your time equing and make sure to compress your voice properly. There is no shortcut for me when it comes to voice. Just needs time to do the right way...

Yea, I guess time is the answer for many things in production, I never compress the voice before, so thanks for pointing that out, and thanks for your time, have a good day!" |

I am Nik and I have an obsession with spicy food. I think spicy isnt the right word - hot as hell would be more like it - hot to such an extent that it has psychotropic effects. I grew up in Mombasa, which is a bit like Mos Eisley cantina - there I started nibbeling on notorious Kenyan baby chillies at the age of 3, making me immune to the unpleasent kick.

dude, turn off your computer monitor/spectral analyser, and start using your ears. if it sounds good, it is good. we hear sound, not see it, right?
no disrespect, but i feel there is far too much talk of how things look on analysers these days. sorry, rant over!

yeah, but it is typical for begginers. i know this by myself i still use spec.analyzer because my room and monitors are not good sound guide
but true is that you can make 2 tracks who looks identicl on spectrum analyzer but they can sound totally different. so analyzer can be only help, not a guide in itself

Cool, thanks for all of your answers, specially the one from arzaan55 (so inspiring, it made me cry ) haha jk. But de-esser is really helpfull thanks for that, and I know, I should listen to my ears better than follow the analizer, and I use to do that, but at the time of mastering the track, I get in to so much trouble, for this picks in the spectral, that I just cant hear in my speakers (maybe I need better ones or somethig), So thats why I turn to the spectral analizer, just for the masterisation of the track. By the way, really cool video, thanks for sharing!! |
