Ok so im writing this topic pretty drunk right now off of vodka and juice so please mind my mistakes.............
I have been making music for like 4 months now and i have some songs finished......i think they are good and my friends who got me into psytrance think they are good and now i want to make a little demo.......u may think that 4 months is little time but i was a musician for ten years before this so i got music down ok i think...........so now i want to make these songs sound professional and i want to get them mixed and mastered but i really dont understand the whole process involved
For example........im using fl studio 9 ..........i know of some people around my city(Tzfat,Israel)who do mizing and mastering for about 800 shekel(300-400 dollars)but i dont really know what i give them.........i know that i have to make my song sound the best i can b4 i give it to them but does that include eq'ing everything and making all the volumes sound legit or not?
also how do i give them my music........do i give them and flp.(fl file) or an mp3 and if it is an mp3 then how the heck do they master it?i always thought that once its an mp3 its untouchable?
Please explain
thank you

You should do the mixing yourself. Let the mastering be done by someone else.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

I do not have a complete understanding of this process, so don't take this as gospel, but generally...

Most people do the mixing themselves, as well as general EQ and whatnot to make it sound as good as possible before they send it off to be mastered.

The mastering engineer will have his/her own way of doing it, and so once you decide on an engineer simply ask them how they work. It is my understanding that a lot of mastering engineers request that you leave a certain ammt of headroom (generally between -10 and -2db), leave processing chains off of the master, and work with stems...

so you mix-down your track into seperate stems (percussion, FX, lead, kick/bass....etc) into WAV format (or whatever the engineer requests) then send it to them. but of course, every engineer is different!            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe
