hey guys,
im just after some guidance here. firstly do you eq your percussion if so is there any techniques to get percussion fitting together. also my leads always stick out too much and seem to be too prominent for the track not really connecting with bass and hi's. Lastly is tere any good advice on making my leads and percussion working together??
thankyou very much.

my mixinng not great but its getting better....i'd say for percussion, when you have the individual levels right and the panning plus effects for each channel its sometimes good to send the percussion a group channel and add compression there and possibly some reverb as this can make all the parts sound 'as one' although its important to get your eqing right and levels in the first place....when i like a new sound it tends to sit quite high in the mix until im used to it an can make it more subtle.... |

hi!
yes, chances are good that you need to EQ your percussions. Sometimes a lowcut will do the trick, sometimes you need more tweaking..
But remember: if the percussions are bad (messured by arrangment), the won't fit in the song, without heavy processing. Try to play with the ADSR-Courve of the single samples. Or smash them into a slicer, for further processing.
Another good thing is to have a SEND-Track with a nice Reverb 100% wet (and perhaps a lowcut here and a little distortion if you like). Then you can route most of your other sounds a little bit to this one and you'll get a nice homogeneous room sound for your sounds, that you can mix in a little.. But don't overdo it (not too much reverb (volume of the send-track), just a little..)!
^^ it's also nice to automate the volume of this send-track for FX-purposes.. so you could fade in a massive reverb for a short period of time..
But remember (once again, hehehe): if your single sounds are bad, they wont work/fit well together.. it's all about arrangement!
good luck!
