Pink noise frequency harmonics as ideal?
Anyone use this technique?
It's really truth?

The guy that was doing FOH for Metallica during the Black Album days, used pink noise and a very expensive hardware spectrum analyser, it to EQ the P.A. quickly and effectively.

Constantly comparing eq signal spectrum with pink noise, until these spectra will coincide...

I do hope this is not a room/monitor EQ thread.

Hard to believe that this makes much sense, especially when the hall is empty..as soon as people come inside everything in the spectrum will change, but maybe he got a good technic about this..don`t know..

how to readout 85 dB on the PPM meter when setting up standard monitor level with sine wave 440 Hz, when pinguin meter measures in minus dB?           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions

Calibrated monitoring

If your room is small it can be better to go a little lower.

you need either a hardware spl meter or you should calculate from db fs to db spl.

I also think for smaller rooms it was 83db spl that are recommended.           https://soundcloud.com/hazak

How would you calculate spl with out a meter?

Thnx all

If this ideal & harmony, then i can compare ALL mixing signals spectrum with pink noise & corrent this with EQ?
Theoretically?
Maybe this help with equalization settings?

forget what I said about calculating

buy a hardware meter, its the easiest way. there are also measurement systems for pc, but they usually come with an extra mic to measure. I'd still recommend a spl meter and you can already get one for 20€ or somthing like that.

codarzz, if you re talking about production, I'd not do that. its a way to make a pa musically "flat" in a certain location. in pink noise there is the equal energy between the octaves, what makes the sound more pleasant to the ear and flat looking on a graphic equalizer. I bet that wouldnt be your goal to make all your signals look like that

MadScientist, ok! Thnx
I search way how to simplify reference point for EQ and spectrum analyze,
and theoretically balance for frequencies.
