I really need to get more inputs and though almost everyone i know has a mixing desk i was thinking of getting an interface with more inputs then the one i have.

What says you?

From my limited understanding a mixing desk might be more likely to add colour or change the dynamics of your sound rather than getting exact clarity but I may be completely wrong.

I know that I'm thinking of a small mixing desk in a year or so but have been told that at least in Australia anything under $1500 usually will cause more hassles sound wise than not.

Of course if your from anywhere but Australia there's probably a great second hand market.

You need to spend upwards 2k to get a desk that will be worth using as part of your sound.

A desk is good for monitoring parts and writing building blocks, but you'd still have to by pass the desk and record directly in the soundcard, if you have a budget desk.

The way I had it in the past, was using a Soundcraft Studio 8 to monitor and record through a Joemeek VC1Qcs with the extra digital card, going spdif, straight into the soundcard.

Shitty pic of old studio in the UK

Unfortunately, no space in my room for a desk now.

I think you if you will conect master output to your audi interface you won't be able to put effects (in a DAW) on each track separatly when you will run few synths simultaneously via mixing desk which has not built-in audio interface.
Good mixer is also much more expensive than audio interface with load of inputs

You can put effects on each track separately, through your DAW, but as many as your desk's sends, and soundcard's I/O allow. Which is not going to be many.

Space (and $) is definitely an issue so i'm more inclined to go for a "bigger" interface. Also the adat interface (A/D converter right?) is an interesting option.

Can someone recomend one (Adat) under 600euros?
