hey guys...
my friend interviewed someone with a camera... (promotional video).
the signal is mono with some background noises (you can hear the nature and a brook).
it was recorded with this:
http://www.thomann.de/de/peavey_pvm_48o.htm
so he wants the interview to sound more professional. any advice?
i thougt of splitting the monosignal to L/R (still mono).
the EQ L-channel (lower the highs),
EQ the R-channel (lower the mids, lows),
cut subbasses...
bounce, checking interview for annoing noises... edit those parts.
compress.
what you think about it, and how would you do it?
cheers

high pass(situation-conditioned adding of some highs or just the right eq),Waves Z-Noise ,Waves X-Noise,Waves X-crackle,Waves Click .
IF the recording was so bad maybe all of them plus compression but the mic looks good.

it would sound much better if you cut the frequencies that do not belong to voice (especially low). Imho, interview shouldn't sound very professional, it should sound legible at the first place.
And yes, there is no sense in making it stereo... until you want some special effects, like moving one person left and the other person right )

Leave it mono. If there is too much background noise, remove the first 120hz with a 2 pole filter, also pitch it slightly higher. And really only very slightly
If then there still is too much noise I always recommend z noise from Waves to get rid of most of the rest. This is how we did it during the Olympics, works like a charm...
and be very careful if you compress it. Sometimes it is good to have a limiter on when you record it, not compress it afterwards...

what kind of wider?
When we talk about an interview - the most professional is natural. You and me and everyone else speak mono. If you make the speech wider it will be unnatural.
Dual mono make the final file sound loud enough while regular mono might be quite low in volume (because only one channel is used.)

Agreed, but also try Redunoise Bundle by iZotope. I got much better results then with any of Waves noise-removal plugs (though I'm a fan of other Waves plugs)
