Sorry if it was already posted, I read the faq and searched first...
I´m planing to buy a mixer. I will not play at any party, I´ll only play at home for fun. And I don´t have much money. So, what should I buy and how much it will cost?
Respect!

as you said little money, i'll assume you'll want to spend 150€/$ instead of 300.
it all depends on what way you will follow: the easy way or the "hardcore" way.
the easy way is buying a Behringer VMX200. this is a mixer with 2 channels, eq for each channel and a BPM counter. the BPM counter will save you long nights trying to beatmatch 2 songs. this mixer costs about 200€/$. there is a cut-down version for 120 €, the VMX100.
the "hardcore" way is buying a Reloop RMX 2 Kill. this is also a 2-channel mixer with eq for channel and kill units per channel, but with no bpm counter. this unit costs about 150€/$. this mixer was recommend to me by a top portuguese techno dj (the guy knows what he plays).
keep in mind that what i call the "hardcore" is just a different path. if you go the easy way, you'll learn to beatmatch without it anyway, but it will take longer. and the first time you play in a mixer without bpm counter, it will be hard.
if you go the "hardcore" way, it will take longer before you can do anything with it, and you'll have to work harder, but your ear will be great. and that way, you can mix good with any mixer, if you encounter a mixer with bpm counter you won't even need to look at the numbers.
also keep in mind that sometimes the bpm can be right but the music doesn't sound good.
i took about a month to train my ear (training about 1h and a half a day). some people may take longer, other may take less time. |

Thanks for the useful answers, friends.
So I need a mixer with two channels with eq on each channel and maybe a bpm counter...
I did a search and find the Behringer VMX200 for US$ 120,00. Maybe I´ll get this one...
Let´s hear more opinions...
What´s kill units?

kill units its a botton u can "kill" one of the EQ in one tuch, switch it in or out.. nice option but not must.. check that every EQ will have maximal down level of db, - 32 is nice.. its kill, its killlleerRRRR !!
behringer is a nice choice from cheap mixers.. check their new 626 3 channel dj mixer, u will surprize how cheap is it.. and its -32 db on each EQ.. and its have very nice options on headphones monitoring.. i say go on 3 channels, may be one day u will want use some vynils or effect modul or whatever u will want so dont border yourself with 2 channels only.. save space for future also..

Thanks again...
Why the Behringer VMX200 VCA-Controlled 2-Channel Pro DJ Mixer with Beat Counter costs US$120,00 and the Behringer DX626 3-Channel DJ Mixer costs US$100,00? Just because it have a bigger name? It has one less channel and still it´s more expensive. What are the best, and what should I buy?

the 626 is very simple but enough good for home using for sure.. its maded to be cheap and possible to everybody.. why ask question if u have option
there is nothng best here, choose the one u feel comfort to buy, 626 good enough in my opinion, and its 3 channels..
now also vestax got very cheap prices to their basic models.. its juts the progress make it cheper every day.. new models maded with new technologies and with cheap stuff inside, quite good anyway imo..
