I used the search and found nothing.

I'm interested in know how artists that release Mixed Compilations, like Raja Ram's Stash Bag and now Astrix ( http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/59005/forum/41 ), make the mix.

They got all original files from all tracks and mix it on computer?
I don't think they play the tracks on CDJs and record it...

Anyone knows for sure?
Thank you!

Hi full_on
I don't know how they do it, but with my own stuff I use Wavelab Audio Montage.
It supports multitracking, giving you the chance to overlap the ends and beginings of tracks. Then, you can index the tracks with markers and burn the CD directly from the timeline... You'll get a mixed CD with track index...

As for myself, I use my CDJ 500's to define a rough mix. I will usually preview many different track mixes and then go with the ones I think can carry the energy for 60-70 minutes.

Then I repeat the mix in AcidPro (you can use any multitrack loop or production software you like). Here is where I tighten up the mixes, play with different fade envelopes, normalize track volumes, etc.

When I'm satisfied I render the file and then work on it a bit more is Sound Forge. I like to inspect the whole mix for inconsistencies and try to make subtle corrections. Usually Just a few small touch-ups and very subtle compression.

Then I render a file to be listened to on a few different disc players, monitors, and my headphones. If I'm satisfied, I mark the tracks and burn my master with a Masterlink. And that's about where I stop. Licensing and dist. rights would be needed to go any further. But it can be very satisfying producing your own mixes.

I have mixed entirely on my board, and entirely on my PC and I have found that I like both. My current compilations integrate both methods.

Hope this helps...

Well I dont know how they do it exactly, but i can guess that they use softwares like acid, ableton, maybe cubase or any other sequencer...

But like i said Im not sure, I think they mix them like this...

Its not hard, it takes a bit time... Some djs do it when they have radio shows... Its quite popular in that field aswell...           • Noize Conspiracy Records •

I heard that Armin Van Buuren , used Abelton.Live, to mix his last double cd, of ASOT and i think there is a bunch of all kind sequencers ,that can do it to.

Thank you all for the answers...

So the artist who will do the mix don't need all original files, right?

Thanks again.
