don't know about the acoustics, but i'd love to mix outside on gaint PA systems away from civilization. like the ones use on our outdoor festivals. You can feel the bass a mile away.

dangerous, a one wrong turn and a self-oscillated resonant lead burns your ears along with sound system... or a sequencer crash with that metallic looped sound you all know... fuck, that's even scarier then crocodiles.
still would be cool to try it

Mixing outdoors to a P.A.?
Honestly, I would not be able to focus on the screen's cursor much after candyfliping on repeat... It would probably end up to endless hours of dancing to the same 16bar loop.

if you get your monitors outside you ll never want to mix indoor anymore hehe almost no resonance man, sound is a lot more pure than in my room ,best way to learn it and hear how shity it sound (and to see it s almost impossible to get a well produced mix in it,somethign sounding really pro).i bought a pair of monitors, the little focal cms 65 , they are killer ,can t wait to use them in the garden heeh(got the adam p22 in the garden last summer and have been amazed by their sound, never hear them like that..they rock). with some experience and some 1000/2000 euro monitors the biggest factor for good production is your room by far |

Yeah, if I had that to myself in a free field, then I'd probably roll one up and let my winamp library play through.
Seems like a bad use of resources to me. |

Its not gold that comes out of your speakers.
Its yout ears, your monitors and the most importent thing,
the room that makes it to gold ;-) |

i often produce on open air ambient in the middle of the trees and i find it great, about the mixes i also dont have a treated room but i think the most important thing to help me mix was to known my PA. so in the end it s the same result for me to do a mix in my room or in the open air ambient...
no doubt that for someone with no treated room and not especialist in mixin ( like me ) , it will be a lot better and fun the outdoor especialy if its in the middle of the woods
